Tuesday

History Walking Tour

Standard history walking tour includes the history of the buildings and the stories behind the names.

Wednesday

Afternoon tea with women at dining table

History Tea & Stories of Big Sur and Deetjen’s Inn

Traditional Devonshire tea is held at the Family table in the restaurant.

  • Historic photos and early guestbook excerpts.

  • Stories about the early settlers of Castro Canyon, the first Big Sur businesses, Highway One construction, and the Deetjens.

Special Artist in Residence Presentation
Wednesday, June 3, 2–4 p.m.

Join us at the Family Table in the restaurant as Liana Steinmetz, a renowned landscape artist whose oil paintings adorn private collections and public spaces across the globe, presents her work and artistic influences.

Workshops, Arts & Heritage Experiences

  • Quilting Bee & Heritage Crafts

    • Traditional textile & quilting inspired by historic homestead techniques

    • Sketching, plein-air photography, journaling, or nature writing

Thursday, June 4, 2–4 p.m.

We welcome novelist, Joshua Kilbridge, whose newly published novel, BBQ BEER FREEDOM, explores what freedom means for an artist in a world of AI, memes, and rationalist crackpots.

Thursday, June 11th, 1:30–4:30 p.m.

The Deetjen’s Community Quilting will be held on June 11th from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.. Bring a piece of fabric to add to the quilt, contribute a few stitches, or simply drop in to view the progress. We look forward to seeing you there!
